Open year round, registration for the YMCA's Early Learning Center is ongoing on a space-available basis. Acceptance from the Early Learning Center Director must be given to enroll in any early learning or preschool child care programs. Sibling discounts are available.

Child Care Playbook

INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM | 6 Months - 2 Years

At the Y, we know a child's first classroom experience will help to mold their future academic success. Our highly devoted toddler teaching teams work hard to ignite every child's love of learning each and every day. Here in the toddler classroom, our children experience an array of developmentally appropriate activities such as role modeling positive social relationships, honing fine and gross motor skills, and an introduction to subjects like early mathematics and literacy. The toddler rooms also make time to explore the outdoors and enjoy a healthy morning and afternoon snack to get our bodies ready for optimal learning.

PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN | 2 - 6 Years

Preschool 1 (25 - 35 months) | Preschool 2 (36 - 47 months) | Pre-K/Kindergarten (48 - 72 months)

We understand that each child learns differently. Our low teacher-to-child ratios provide the opportunity for our highly trained teachers to get to know each child as an individual and customize their education to their interests in pursuit of an emergent curriculum. At the Y, we strive to provide our students with opportunities for hands on, open ended learning in order for them to grow as an individual, in addition to being a positive member of the classroom team. Our 3 older classrooms enjoy gross motor activities, such as yoga and tumbling, in addition to special academic experiences, such as an annual art show. Children in our 2 oldest classrooms also receive swim lessons.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE | Grades K - 5

There's plenty for kids and parents to love about the Y's Before & After School Programs. Kids get to experiment with their new knowledge, move their bodies, and be surrounded by positive adult role models. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it's fun too! In our care, your child will receive homework support, outdoor play, nutrition & fitness curriculum, healthy snacks, enrichment (STEM, creative arts, and more), character development, choice time, and more! YMCA START at Henry Wilson & Beech Street Schools

Y-START Program Flyer

YMCA START is a research-based after school program serving 125 low-income students from Henry Wilson and Beech Street Schools. The curriculum includes 2.5 hours daily of academic tutoring, physical fitness, life skills, nutrition, arts, 21st century skills, character development and teamwork. Eighty-two percent of our participants speak a language other than English at home, so START helps families who need support understanding American culture and schools. Last year, 75% of START students were recognized as citizens of the month by their schools and all students in the program advanced a minimum of two reading levels.

Vacation Camps / No School Days
NO SCHOOL DAYS | K - 5 (7:00 am - 6:00 pm)

There are several days throughout the school year when school is not in session. For an additional fee and separate registration, you can enroll your child in our No School Days Program. At the Y, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to participate in a variety of fun enrichment opportunities and activities. Children do not have to be enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program in order to participate, but pre-registration is required.

During school vacation weeks in December, February, and April, the Y offers a vacation camp program at the YMCA of Downtown Manchester. We offer theme-based programs, gym games, and other choice activities. Spots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Children do not have to be enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program in order to participate, but pre-registration is required.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance

At the Y, we do offer financial assistance for those families in need. We also accept State of New Hampshire reimbursements. Proof of assistance and a completed child care provider form (1863) must be provided at time of registration. All families who receive financial assistance, whether through the Y or the State, must also stay current with their payments. Families are responsible for all fees not paid by the state. The state will not generally pay for any absences, nor will they pay late or no-call fees, or for days in which your child is picked up early and does not attend the minimum number of hours.
