Teens also enjoy daily or bi-weekly field trips to some of Northern New England’s most beautiful locations, including beaches, parks, and amusement parks. Teen Trip Camps

Teen Trip is more than just a camp, it’s a vacation! Teens will spend their summer traveling to fun locations throughout Northern New England combined with traditional camp activities tailored towards older campers (varies by location).

Leadership Camps

Teen leadership camps include Leader In Training (LIT) and Counselor In Training (CIT). These programs are aimed at introducing teens to essential leadership skills.

Traditional Teen Camps at The Granite YMCA offer a classic summer camp experience with an exciting twist. Designed specifically for early teens, this program focuses on fun, friendship, and learning through a series of traditional and innovative activities.

Our camps are designed to foster an environment where young teens can grow, learn new skills, and build confidence. Campers will enjoy their summer and develop critical social skills, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

About Traditional Teen Camps

Diverse Activities: Campers will enjoy a robust schedule that includes swimming, arts and crafts, sports, and archery, ensuring that every day is active and engaging.

  • Pizza and Ice Cream Thursdays: A weekly treat that all campers look forward to, now included in the camp fee.
  • New Experiences and Games: Each week introduces new activities and challenges that keep the excitement going and ensure no two days are the same.

Community Service: Each session includes opportunities for teens to give back through community service projects, teaching them the value of helping others and contributing to their community.

Weekly Trips: The highlight for many campers, these trips range from local museums to natural parks, adding a layer of adventure and exploration to the camp experience.

The Granite YMCA’s Teen Trips program offers an exhilarating summer option for teens who crave adventure and exploration. Our program is designed to provide a balance of structured activities and free time, allowing teens to explore their interests and develop self-reliance within a safe environment. This program not only entertains but also educates teens as they learn to navigate different settings and interact with diverse groups of peers.

About Teen Trip Camps

Beach Days: Experience the fun of sun, sand, and surf with planned trips to local beaches.

Sports Events: Get a chance to watch the Worcester Red Sox in action and feel the excitement of a live sports event.

Amusement Parks and More: Enjoy thrilling rides and attractions at various amusement parks, providing an unforgettable adrenaline rush.

Teens can choose between closely guided group activities (Level 1) or more independent exploration with scheduled check-ins (Level 2), catering to different comfort levels and fostering a sense of independence.

The Foundation of Leadership

The Leader In Training (LIT) program is specifically designed for young teens ready to embark on the first steps of leadership. This four-week program at The Granite YMCA introduces participants to fundamental leadership skills necessary for personal and professional success. By the end of the LIT program, participants will have a solid foundation in leadership that will aid them in school projects, future employment, and community activities. Each participant receives a certificate of completion, recognizing their achievements and readiness to take on more responsible roles.

Expand Your Horizons

The Counselor In Training (CIT) program is designed for older teens aiming to refine their leadership skills and prepare for future roles as camp counselors or leaders in various settings. Participants will conclude the CIT program with enhanced leadership skills, practical camp operation knowledge, and a capstone project that showcases their learning and development. The program culminates in a recognition event where participants are formally acknowledged with a certificate of completion.

In-Depth Training: Receive training similar to what YMCA camp counselors undergo, including session planning and safety protocols.

Shadowing Opportunities: Shadow various camp staff roles to understand the behind-the-scenes operations of a successful camp.

Interview and Application Process Training: Learn how to present oneself professionally through mock interviews and application writing.
