New Hampshire (May 13, 2024) – On May 7th, 2024, The YMCA of Concord (YOC) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new childcare playground created from the generosity of local donations totaling $125,000.
“The childcare program at the YMCA of Concord is over 25 years old and located in the downtown historic Concord firehouse. It was basically a concrete lot in desperate need of an appropriate area for children to engage in outdoor activities and because of the generosity of the Blood family and major gifts from the Merrimack Commissioners ARP Fund and Merrimack Savings Bank, we can now celebrate the opening of a new, safe, and age-appropriate playground for our children,” said Michele Sheppard, CEO, The Granite YMCA.
The theme of the playground is in keeping with the historic nature of the location featuring a firehouse, fire truck, and more for kids to enjoy their new slides, swings, and a “paved” road around the playground. In addition, the new playground will be supplied with balls, trucks, cars, and child-friendly toys.
