Parenting A Second Time Around

Strengthen Your Family at the YMCA

Parenting A Second Time Around, also known as PASTA, is a free support group for kinship caregivers and grandparents in the position of raising a child or children under the age of 18. The Granite YMCA offers Parenting A Second Time Around at various branches in 6 – 8 week sessions. During this program, the group will discuss child development, discipline and guidance, caring for oneself as a caregiver, rebuilding a family, living with teens, legal issues, and advocacy.

Originally developed by Cornell University, this program was developed to support those grandparents and relatives parenting children. The Y believes there is value in sharing this curriculum and workshops with our families and community due to the overwhelming struggles these relatives have voiced to us throughout our day camp and child care programs. The community has expressed a significant need for support and resources.
