Welcome Mike Curtis
The YMCA of the Seacoast is pleased to announce that Michael Curtis has been named as its branch director.
“We’re very excited to bring Mike aboard in this key leadership position,” said Michele Sheppard, Chief Operating Officer of The Granite YMCA. “He brings a broad range of skills and experience to this role and we look forward to his vision and energy in supporting those we serve.”
Mr. Curtis joins the association from White Mountains High School in Jefferson, NH where he served as Vice Principal for the past four years. In that role, he was responsible for a recruiting and supervising staff, overseeing facilities and budget and coordinating curriculum development. Prior to his role as Vice Principal, Mr. Curtis held a number of leadership roles within the school district including Director of Athletics, Dean of Students and Freshman Academy Director. He began his professional career at the YMCA of Downtown Manchester as a Program Director.
“I’m thrilled to join the YMCA of the Seacoast,” said Mr. Curtis. “Our daily mission is to support to health and wellness needs of our members and others we serve.” said Mr. Curtis.
Mr. Curtis holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Keene State College in Keene, NH. Additionally, he holds a range of professional certifications.
“We are in the process of increasing our focus on implementing programming which can really assist and enrich the lives of families in need,” said Mr. Curtis. “I’m also looking forward to seeing the YMCA of the Seacoast have a larger role in Greater Portsmouth in regards to teen and after school enrichment programming, with the goal of opening more doors for children in need”.
