Give Thanks to Volunteers During National Volunteer Week
Manchester, NH – The Granite YMCA is encouraging community members to use National Volunteer Week (April 16 - 22, 2023) to take a moment and thank the volunteers in their lives. Our programs are stronger because of you. Our communities are better because of you. Throughout the week, we'll be sharing heartwarming stories from individuals who shared their time and expertise with the Y.
National Volunteer Week Spotlight Videos:
Volunteers are vital to the success of the YMCA. It is only with the help of our volunteers that we are able to bring about meaningful, enduring change in our communities. Over 233,000 people volunteer at the Y annually. Hundreds of these volunteers give back right here at The Granite YMCA through activities like mentoring teens, coaching youth sports, serving on our boards, spearheading fundraising drives, and so much more.
Here at The Granite YMCA, the Strafford County branch hosts a group of members who have formed a ukulele club. Meeting weekly in the TRX room, these musicians share their enjoyment of music and camaraderie. Some of them even attend two fitness classes in the mornings prior to ukulele practice. As YMCA volunteers, they have played at Breakfast with Frosty and might be spotted at Healthy Kids Day on June 3. This is but one example of how Y programs support community. There are so many more stories of great experiences and there are many more opportunities to help make a difference.
National Volunteer Week is a great time to get involved. Here are a few ways individuals can take an active role at the Y and in their community:
- Consider becoming a mentor or tutor to help youth learn new skills, build confidence, and set and achieve their goals.
- Teach a class, coach a sports team, or assist with a leadership program.
- Help with Y fundraising efforts to ensure those in need can access essential programs and services to reach their full potential.
- Invite friends and neighbors to join you in contributing to a stronger community.
