2013 - 2016 Capital Campaign: Where Lives Change
The Granite YMCA is proud to announce an ambitious project aimed at supporting one of Southern New Hampshire’s most vulnerable populations- teenagers- through a two pronged initiative that will enhance and expand its current teen center in the YMCA of Downtown Manchester and build a new center at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown. Currently serving about 1,000 teens annually, this project will double capacity by early 2018, and serve about 2,000 area teens.
This initiative is the culmination of a multi-year strategic planning process in which The Granite YMCA’s board, local leaders and experts took a long-term view of how to address this growing societal need and help ensure a healthier and more productive future for area youth.
The new and expanded centers will provide teens and “tweens” with a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented environment during after school and out-of-school time periods, when kids are at the greatest risk of engaging in unhealthy behaviors. With a historical legacy of youth development and nearly three decades of direct experience in addressing the youth achievement gap, The Granite YMCA is well-positioned to serve this important population. All of our programs are delivered by highly trained and caring professionals; core offerings and services include:
- leadership and character development, training, college and career support
- healthy lifestyles
- academic support, tutoring services and mentoring
- positive peer interactions supported by adult mentoring
- community service opportunities
Key measures include:
- 2000 + students to be served each year
- 100% of our students will have access to tutoring and educational support
- 2000+ students are able to participate in healthy, adult mentored activities
- 75% of those served will improve their social competencies
- 1000+ students will participate in drug and alcohol prevention programming
A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Because The Granite YMCA recognizes the importance of sustainability in its programs offerings, we have built a business model that relies upon a range of funding streams which includes earned revenue, charitable contributions, grants and sponsorships.
As one of NH’s oldest and longest standing non-profits, The Granite YMCA has a strong legacy of building healthy and productive private-public partnerships and this initiative is in keeping with that philosophy. Thanks to the generosity of private donors and corporations, the state’s tax credit program (CDFA), CDBG and foundation grants, we have already raised $3.3 million to support both Centers for Youth and Teen Leadership as well as improvements to our resident camps located in Alton and Strafford, NH.
YOU CAN HELP!
A gift to the Y’s Capital Campaign will make a difference in the lives of 2,000 at-risk youth in the Greater Manchester area. Every gift is meaningful and will be recognized.
