The Granite YMCA offers a wide variety of fun and enriching programs and classes designed to help every member of the family develop and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. With more than 100 classes to choose from each week, there's sure to be something for everyone at the Y!

As a leading non-profit with a focus on healthy living, we provide our members with a supportive and motivating community with the programs and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being. 

  • GROUP WELLNESS

    Have fun and get fit as you build friendships within our supportive Y community! The Granite YMCA offers more than 150 weekly group exercise and aquatics classes for every fitness level from kids, teens, adults, families and seniors. We offer cardio, muscle conditioning, stretching and relaxation, swimming, and more! Our friendly, supportive instructors design all classes to help keep you motivated and on track.

    Whether your goal is to lose weight, improve your sports performance or simply stay fit, we're here to help! Wellness Coaches are available to help you set up a workout routine, stay motivated, develop a new strength training program, or help you learn how to use our equipment.     Swim lessons are one of the most popular programs at the Y because we are successful in teaching children to be safe and enjoy the water. The aquatics team at The Granite YMCA has evaluated our swim lesson program. In order to provide the highest quality instruction, we will be implementing a skill-based swim program designed to teach safety, technique, and positive swim values while promoting self-esteem, and fun.

  • WELLNESS CENTERS

    The Health and Wellness Centers at The Granite YMCA locations include strength and cardio equipment, stretching areas, free weights and a variety of other unique and popular equipment options. Although specific equipment varies by location, you can achieve a complete workout and receive support and guidance from our trained staff.

    From questions on using the exercise or weight machines to executing squats and lunges with correct form—the Fitness Center staff is ready to help. For every hour the Y is open, a Fitness Center representative is available to help you get the most from your workout. And it’s free with membership!

    Fitness Orientations & Wellness Assessments

    • FREE Wellness Orientations and Goal Setting
      The basis of the Y fitness orientation program is to provide an understanding of what elements make up an effective workout. Each orientation includes an exercise routine to help get you started.
    • Fitness Assessments (Ages 13+ by appt only) 
      This important evaluation helps to determine the safest starting point for your personal exercise program. You’ll enjoy seeing your progress when you retest later on! You can take the complete test or only the parts you want.

    We also offer a variety of tailored personal training options.

     

  • HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAMS

    Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. At the Y, our programs and activities help youth, adults and families receive the support, guidance and resources needed to reduce risk for disease, reclaim health, and achieve greater health and well-being for the spirit, mind and body.

    BRIDGE PROGRAM

    The Granite YMCA’s Bridge Program is a FREE program, with 2 and 4 week options, for all young adult, adult, and senior members looking to take the first steps towards creating a healthy lifestyle. This program provides members with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to take those first steps towards incorporating physical activity into their everyday life.

    Participants will connect in a small group with a wellness coach twice a week to sample different types of exercise. A regular routine will be developed that fits each individual’s lifestyle, comfort level, and goals. A trained coach will guide all participants through the proper intensity, frequency, and form to use with cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance exercises. Coaches help individuals overcome obstacles such as lack of time and motivation and help everyone to feel more at home in an exercise environment. Each class will be modified to the group and includes a series of tips and information on how to eat healthier.

    PERSONAL & SMALL GROUP TRAINING

    Individual or Group Personal Training at The Granite YMCA is a great way to customize your workout program! Through both traditional and innovative techniques, you will improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscle conditioning, endurance and flexibility with an exercise program that has been personalized to meet your goals and needs.

    We help you develop an exercise program tailored to your health history, needs, limitations, and goals. Our highly qualified trainers create programs that are unique just for you, provide motivation, encouragement and accountability, and serve as a resource for objective and accurate health and wellness information. Work with a trainer individually or in small groups of 2 to 4 to motivate and support one another in creating a consistent routine and achievable wellness goals while learning new ways to workout.

    LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA

    Participating in LIVESTRONG at the YMCA has played an important role in Penny’s recovery process. Penny is now a volunteer with the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program and helps to introduce new friends to the program.

    LIVESTRONG at the Y is a FREE 12-week, small group program for adult cancer survivors. Through this program, we support cancer survivors in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the time of feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to return to their normal life.

    We meet twice a week for 75 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease participants back into fitness and help further their wellness journey. Our exercises help reduce the severity of therapy side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve energy levels and self-esteem. You will:

    • build muscle mass and muscle strength
    • increase flexibility and endurance
    • improve functional ability

    We also help you develop your own physical fitness program so you can practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of your recovery, but as a way of life. In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides you with a supportive environment and a feeling of community with fellow survivors, Y staff, and other members.

    MoveWell Today Diabetes Exercise Program

    "I was diagnosed a type 2 diabetic in 2004 and have struggled to keep my glucose under control. In the fall of 2015, I was introduced to the MoveWell program at the Y. This 12 week program was an exceptional experience for me as I had no formal diabetic education. I have been very active in pickleball but diet and strength training was missing. The program was very easy and the staff made it fun. At the end of the twelve weeks, I had more strength and endurance which improved my game of pickleball. Even my PCP was impressed with the results." - MoveWell Today Participant

    MoveWell Today is a 12- week fitness intervention program designed for anyone diagnosed as a pre-diabetic or with Type 2 diabetes. This program follows the American College of Sports Medicine and American Diabetes Association guidelines for aerobic exercise and resistance training specific for coaching clients with diabetes.

    PRESCRIBE THE Y

    “I really enjoyed spending time learning about nutrition and eating better. The instructor helped me understand that food really does affect your health. Because of this program, my goal is to be healthy not skinny. This has also motivated me to become more active in my daily life. The whole program is wonderful for kids because we do all different types of activities to show exercise can actually be fun.” - Prescribe the Y Participant

    Prescribe the Y is a 12-week referral evidence based program for children ages 6 to 12 years with a BMI of 85% or higher. Participation in this program offers families support, guidance, and resources needed to establish healthier eating patterns and a more physically active lifestyle. Prescribe the Y will teach kids and families to enjoy exercise and learn how to make healthy choices.

    Prescribe the Y helps youth and families to cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and achievement.

  • WHIM & ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS

    ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS AND EQUIPMENT
    At the Y, the goal is to provide wellness opportunities to all members of the community regardless of their ability. All of our adaptive programs help individuals gain confidence, promote independence and responsibility, socialize and work with others, as well as nurture a healthy and active lifestyle. All programs are led by qualified, trained individuals who help promote a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for all needs.

    Many of our state-of-the-art health and wellness centers offer equipment for all members to use their abilities for a cardio workout, an upper body workout, a lower body workout, or a workout that combines both. 

    Enjoy time in our pools. We offer ADA compliant pool lifts for all of our indoor pools.

    ​The YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown offers an accessible playground open to the community so that younger community members can enjoy social active play with their peers.

    WHEELCHAIR HEALTH IN MOTION
    The Granite YMCA partners with Wheelchair Health in Motion or WHIM, to offer a wellness program designed for both wheelchair users and individuals with low mobility and focuses on upper-body strength routines and aerobic exercise. Participants learn about health and wellness topics that are relevant to them and the group setting provides them a chance to socialize and connect with people who understand them.
