Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. At the Y, our programs and activities help youth, adults and families receive the support, guidance and resources needed to reduce risk for disease, reclaim health, and achieve greater health and well-being for the spirit, mind and body.
The Granite YMCA’s Bridge Program is a FREE program, with 2 and 4 week options, for all young adult, adult, and senior members looking to take the first steps towards creating a healthy lifestyle. This program provides members with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to take those first steps towards incorporating physical activity into their everyday life.
Participants will connect in a small group with a wellness coach twice a week to sample different types of exercise. A regular routine will be developed that fits each individual’s lifestyle, comfort level, and goals. A trained coach will guide all participants through the proper intensity, frequency, and form to use with cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance exercises. Coaches help individuals overcome obstacles such as lack of time and motivation and help everyone to feel more at home in an exercise environment. Each class will be modified to the group and includes a series of tips and information on how to eat healthier.

Individual or Group Personal Training at The Granite YMCA is a great way to customize your workout program! Through both traditional and innovative techniques, you will improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscle conditioning, endurance and flexibility with an exercise program that has been personalized to meet your goals and needs.
We help you develop an exercise program tailored to your health history, needs, limitations, and goals. Our highly qualified trainers create programs that are unique just for you, provide motivation, encouragement and accountability, and serve as a resource for objective and accurate health and wellness information. Work with a trainer individually or in small groups of 2 to 4 to motivate and support one another in creating a consistent routine and achievable wellness goals while learning new ways to workout.

LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA

Participating in LIVESTRONG at the YMCA has played an important role in Penny’s recovery process. Penny is now a volunteer with the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program and helps to introduce new friends to the program.
LIVESTRONG at the Y is a FREE 12-week, small group program for adult cancer survivors thanks to a major grant received from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation. Through this program, we support cancer survivors in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the time of feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to return to their normal life.
We meet twice a week for 75 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease participants back into fitness and help further their wellness journey. Our exercises help reduce the severity of therapy side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve energy levels and self-esteem. You will:
- build muscle mass and muscle strength
- increase flexibility and endurance
- improve functional ability
We also help you develop your own physical fitness program so you can practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of your recovery, but as a way of life. In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides you with a supportive environment and a feeling of community with fellow survivors, Y staff, and other members.

Prescribe the Y is a 12-week referral evidence based program for children ages 6 to 12 years with a BMI of 85% or higher. Participation in this program offers families support, guidance, and resources needed to establish healthier eating patterns and a more physically active lifestyle. Prescribe the Y will teach kids and families to enjoy exercise and learn how to make healthy choices.
Prescribe the Y helps youth and families to cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and achievement.
